Can a Barter Website Help with Medical Expenses?

Use a barter website to help pay for those medical expenses!  If you have outstanding medical debt, this is a bit impossible to do however, from this point on; you have the ability to barter goods or services for medical and/or dental care.  Are you aware of just how many people do not buy health insurance because of the high premiums and co-payments?  People without health insurance are generally not in good health; do not have a proper retirement account or insurance for a disability.  The U.S. so far, spends the most on healthcare than any other country.  We are the most un healthy people in the world!  Some states offer discounted insurance through the State's health agency but this is a long process and usually does not allow for a large network of physicians.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans struggle to pay off the high cost of medical debt because of the lack of health insurance or inadequate coverage.  Some patients who are not insured are charged multiple times for procedures.  Always ask for an itemized list of the services you receive to ensure there are no duplicates.  Medical mistakes happen often so do not be surprised. We are used to our health care provider taking care of this for us but we now have to be our own advocate.

So what does this have to do with bartering?  Well, bartering is a very unique way to pay back your medical bills or for services.  Many small businesses can not pay for their employees to have insurance and other larger corporations have raised their premiums.  We are left with a very terrifying dilemma of paying a large sum of money or go without.  When we "go without" as a society we risk our health and overall well being.  In one state, a dentist bartered dental services for items he needed.  Another company has thousands of members in a barter group and they promote healthcare bartering.  Employees can exchange medical services.
There are three general guidelines when you are locating a medical service provider when bartering.

1.    Research!  Verify that the provider is a licensed physician.

2.    Has the agreement been verified?  Verify the agreement you established with the provider in writing.

3.    Give back to the provider!  Spread the word with friends, co-workers and relatives.  This can potentially open the door for you to negotiate future services.
Take a look around on line; there are barter websites that exist to get you the much needed insurance!

-Set specific guidelines such as a time limit or conditions.  This is livelihood for you, treat it with respect.  Within the contract you create, specify a time limit to the bartered relationship (ex. 45 days)

If you can follow these guidelines, then a barter website can work for you!
